Out of the few uncertainties dropshippers face, there’s one that has the greatest impact on the business.

Not knowing the true quality of a product customers are buying.

When you’re dropshipping from AliExpress, you should technically be ordering samples of what you’re selling.

However, when a business first opens up, it’s not practical.

Most new Shopify store owners don’t have the time investment to wait around for products to arrive, and express shipping is a financial pain.

But I’m sure you’ve wondered at least once, “Is the quality of my products good enough for the price I’m selling them at?”

Because there’s only so much information you can gather from product images.

After all, Photoshop is a thing.

Your products quality is the most important component to know about it, selling high-quality products will generate repeat business and a large fanbase.

So … I’m going to let you in on how you can assure that you’re ordering the best items to dropship from AliExpress.

It’s simple, there are 3 checkpoints to inspect:

  • Price
  • Seller Information
  • Number of orders

However, these are just temporary solutions, and I’ll tell you why in a bit …

… First, let’s get to these best AliExpress product hacks.

What You Pay is What You Get

The quality of a product tends to correlate with the pricing on AliExpress.

So the lower the price, the lower the quality.

Although your margins are already tight, you should be choosing products at a slightly higher price point.

I’m not saying to buy the most expensive variation of the product, but you don’t want the bottom of the barrel.

Instead, look for an alternative supplier that is selling the product at a slightly higher price.

Even if the two products seem identical, they’re not.

They differ significantly in quality.

You can always reflect the price at what you’re buying it for in the price you’re selling it for. While remaining competitive.

It’s always better to be known as the store that has slightly higher prices, but better quality products.

Don’t lose your customers trust, instead, build a relationship with repeat buyers so your business can scale.

Research the Seller

There’s only so much information on a product that your computer screen can provide.

You’re going to have to spend time assessing the seller.

Communicate with the Seller

Whenever you find a product you’d like to sell from a new supplier, you should always reach out to them before importing to your store.

You should ask them if they’re familiar with dropshipping.

They’re the ones sending products straight to your customers, things need to be as smooth as possible.

Assess each supplier on their response time, quality of communication, and familiarity with dropshipping.

You want to look for quick response times – from an actual person, not an autoresponder, with clear messaging and a very clear understanding of dropshipping.

The last thing you need is for the supplier to send along their promotional material in your customer’s orders, or take too long to respond if any issues arise.

Look for the Top Brand Sellers Badge

AliExpress has a ranking system for sellers based on the quality of their products and feedback that they get.

Top Brand Sellers are the highest rated suppliers on AliExpress.

When you buy from these suppliers, you’re buying directly from the brand or a seller who has been authorized to resell the brand.

Top Sellers are denoted by a small badge to the right of the Suppliers name on the AliExpress listing.

Each supplier you buy from should be a Top Seller, they will have the best products for you to dropship.

Inspect the Detailed Seller Ratings

You should look through the detailed seller ratings of the Top Brand Sellers.

On a 5-point scale, sellers are rated on:

  • Item as Described
  • Communication
  • Shipping Speed

Each subject is important, however, you want to make sure the ‘Item as Described’ is no less than a 4.8.

This almost guarantees that the quality of your product matches the description.

Another point to note about the seller is how long they’ve been in business.

Choose a seller that has been in business for at least two years. By this point, they’ve been in business long enough to secure the validity of their procedures and professionalism.

Look for Buyer Protection

AliExpress also classifies sellers who offer Buyer Protection.

Buyer Protection offers guarantees for refunds and on time delivery.

If a product arrives broken or not as described, it’s covered under Buyer protection.

It’s an extra layer of protection you shouldn’t go without.

Total Number of Orders

Any product can be ‘liked’ or ‘favorited’, but it doesn’t provide as much valuable data as the number of orders the product has.

The higher the order amount, the more assurance you will have that it’s a premium product – otherwise, no one would continue buying it.

The threshold of minimum orders to look for will vary depending on the popularity of the niche.

A good rule of thumb is to choose a product with at least 500-1000 orders. Once again, the higher the order number, the better your chances of selling a high-quality product.

Below is an example of a product that meets every single piece of criteria mentioned in this article.

In Order to Truly Find the Best AliExpress Products…

…You MUST order samples.

There’s no other way to determine the quality of a product except ordering and inspecting it yourself.

The only person that has direct contact with the product before it gets to your customer is the supplier. Which makes the supplier a fundamental person in your business.

They have the biggest impact on the trust your customer has for your store.

Everything from the unpacking experience to the use of the product will leave an impression on your customers. These impressions will determine whether your customer will come back to shop from you again. So make sure the impressions generate repeat business.

Use these tips and checkpoints while your business is just taking off. But once your store is established, you should begin to order and test the products you’d like to phase in.
